Gasoline has been the main engine of inflation in the last year and its drop of 7.7% in June has allowed a respite. After 9.1% in June, the highest in four decades, inflation has eased to 8.5% in June, the first month in a long time that prices have not risen, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
